Canada: Inderjit Singh Reyat Released on Parole in Air India Case

:dateline:Inderjit Singh Reyat has been released on parole after he was charged with perjury in 2006 for allegedly misleading the court when he testified in the Air India trial in 2004.�

Reyat was sentenced to nine years in prisoner in 2010 in the case.

As per the Corrections and Conditional Releases Act, Reyat will now be required to abide by certain conditions and serve the rest of his sentence in the community.� The act allows offenders to be released on parole after serving two thirds of their sentence in prison.

The conditions imposed upon Reyat will require him to avoid any contact with victim families, or certain individuals with involvement in political activities.� He has to regularly report to a parole officer.
