In month of October, 2015, a number of incidents of Guru Granth Sahib’s sacrilege happened across Punjab on large scale, deeply hurting Sikh sentiments. These incidents were accompanied by another incident, during which the Punjab Police opened fire at peaceful Sikhs who were undertaking peaceful agitation against the sacrilege. The firing by police led to deaths of two Sikh youth. These eventstriggered unprecedented uprising among Sikhs against the government across the state and paved the way for Sarbat Khalsa which was successfully held on November 10, 2015 at Chabba village of Amritsar Sahib, despite several restriction imposed by the government.
The Sarbat Khalsa established that despite lacking proper organizational structure and cadre, Sikh political forces cannot be ignored in Punjab. As a result, these forces revived on political scene of Punjab and hit headlines.
This political development has close relationship with the Khadoor Sahib by-poll as its MLA (now

former) Ramanjit Singh Sikki who belongs to Congress party, resigned from the post to protest against the sacrilege incidents, following which the seat was declared vacant by the election commission to conduct bypoll. Being a Sikh, Sikki also attended the Sarbat Khalsa and made a speech.
Sikki again has been fielded by the Congress for this bypoll. In addition, the Khadoor Sahib segment is considered as Panthik segment as Sikhs enjoy unprecedented majority in this constituency.
Furthermore, stakes are high for all the political parties of Punjab in this bypoll slated to be held on February 13, as it will set trends for state assembly elections of 2017. In this background, this election carries big importance for Sikhs.
Particularly, Sikhs of Panthik spirit are seeing this bypoll very keenly, but they are confused a bit as question still prevails in their mind as which candidate they should support. Although, Sikki is member of pro-Indian state Congress who has committed grave atrocities on Sikhs in past, but in view of his personal contribution made in respect of Guru Granth Sahib, he carries very good reputation among Sikhs.
Besides him, Bhai Baldeep Singh is contesting the bypoll as an independent candidate. He also enjoys good reputation amongst Sikhs. However, as claimed by S. Simranjit Singh Mann, who may likely also field a candidate, has no considerable sway on ground. Bhai Baldeep Singh was the Aam Aadmi Party candidate from Khadoor Sahib in the 2014 Lok Sabha elections, and despite being new to politics, he receivedconsiderable number of votes from this particular constituency.

Simranjit Singh Mann is the head of theShiromani Akali Dal (Amritsar), and along with United Akali Dal (UAD), his party played a big role in the Sarbat Khalsa. Both may contest the by-poll jointly in alliance with other splinter Akali groups SAD (1920) and SAD (Sawatantar), but ground reality suggests that these organizations are not in position to win the election.
As for the ruling Shiromani Akali Dal (Badal), it has already been acting parting ways with the Panthik ideology. The SAD (B) has announced MP Ranjit Singh Brahmpuras son Ravinder Brahmpura, who is a patriot and fascist Indian nationalist from the beginning. Few days back, pointing finger toward his main opponent Sikki, he stated that Congress has been giving shelter to those elements who demanded Khalistan, threatening the unity and integrity of the nation. This statement suggests that Badals did not discard Brahmpura’s anti-Panthik propaganda and continue to term Sikhideology as anti-national. Akali leaders also termed the Sarbat Khasla as anti-national, going against the aspirations of Sikhs across the world. Akali Dalis all set to misuse the power to win the election.

Another AAP dissident Dr. Sumel Singh Sidhu who is also contesting the bypoll from Punjab Sanjhiwal Morcha, is considered as left thinker. Although, during the campaign, he gives impression as pro-Sikh, but his views are reportedly guided by left ideology. He is new in the constituency and not likely to get sizable response from the voters.
Altogether, the bypoll is expected to revolve around the Sikhs and Sikh issues directly or indirectly, though Sikh political forces are not in good position to win. But, In view of complicated political equations, it would be big challenge for these forces to chalk out abalanced strategy which would be in the interest of the Panth. ‘Panthik’ political parties, including the SAD (Amritsar) and United Akali Dalcannot even ignore the appeal of Takht Sri Damdama Sahib Jathedar Bhai Baljit Singh Daduwalregarding boycott of the elections, as they themselves were the forerunners of the Sarbat Khalsa that appointed Bhai Daduwal as the Jathedar.
Oh, just in case you think I am just against the gangster Badal, his corrupted SGPC and of course the terrorist RSS backed BJP, I am also against the genocide apologist Congress Party as all four of these unholy bodies are against the interests of the Sikh Nation.
We must vote for some one who gives us hope of
1) Jobs
2) Security
3) Well being of our children by taking on the Drug mafia ,Cleaning from our water Cancer causing substances .
4) Bright future for our children by transforming us into a “SPACE FARING” people as in 4 billion years from now Khadoor Sahib would be gone by the expanding sun as it burns our earth

You list 4 priorities and not one of them is freedom to practise one’s religion without persecution. You want a job and security – well you could reasonably expect both of those if you were willing to suck up to the Badals and their SGPC patronage. Cost you your integrity and honour but you’d get money in your hand (might be a little black or white for that matter considering the drug concession) and you’d get full police protection (they’d happily arrest or shoot anyone or you could do that yourself and expect a little political cover from the Badals and their Hinduvta masters). As for your third consideration well your bosses would ensure you get a good supply of bottled mineral water fresh in from Switzerland – return flight after they have banked a little dirty money into Swiss account there and the free supply of drugs they are involved in traffiking which you’d have access to (one of the perks of being part of the Bad-Al Capone’s family) would ensure you got your fourth wish of becoming a space faring person any time you like.
This Ravinder ‘Brahmpura’ either has the startling decency unlike his Akali BaDal sponsors to openly declare his allegiance to the Hinduvta cause or his Hinduvta masters are enjoying an in-joke and bet over a chota peg of whiskey with the Badals as they divvy out the proceeds of drug trafficking money in Punjab dancing the night away at rapper and gypsy king Ram Rahim’s dera. The contemptuous in-joke and wager in question? Whether the Sikh electorate is blind-sided enough not to notice that this so-called Sikh (who openly maligns even the memory of his fallen Sikh kinsmen) bears the very name ‘Brahmpura’ which sounds awfully conveniently close to ‘Brahmin Pura’ – Brahmin total or Brahmin full – and actually vote for him in the manner of ‘turkeys voting for Christmas’!
