Bhai Lakha is facing life imprisonment in assassination case of the former Punjab Chief Minister, Beant �Singh�. �Beant had orchestrated murders of thousands�of innocent Sikhs in Punjab during the�early 1990s.
Bapu Surat Singh Khalsa is on indefinite hunger strike, where he has refused to take any food, until political prisoners who have completed their terms are released from the jail. �He has been struggling since the past one year, and has continued the protest despite several hardships. �Bapu Ji is currently being kept at the DMC Hero Heart hospital where he is being fed forcibly through food pipes.
Bhai�Jang Singh said that the Sangharsh Committee was making every effort to ensure permanent release of Sikh detainees who had completed their terms. �He hoped that the Bapu Surat Singh Khalsa�s efforts would yield more positive results soon.
