:dateline:Terming the January 26 (Republic Day of India) holiday as a betrayal day for Sikhs, the Dal Khalsa has announced to hold a protest march in collaboration with Panch Pardhani on January 25 in Amritsar to oppose the ongoing deliverance of injustices to Sikhs.

The march would start from Circuit House Road Cross after a brief demonstration and will conclude at the Deputy Commissioners office.

In a press note shared with Sikh24, appointed spokesperson of Dal Khalsa Bhai Kanwarpal Singh has alleged that Sikhs were being treated as a second class citizen since the imposition of Indian constitution. He said that Sikhs were deprived of their national identity by the executives of Indian constitution.

Citing the Article 25 (B) of Indian constitution, he added that Sikhs were deprived of their national identity under a verydeliberate policy. Minorities like Sikhs, Jains, Budhists and others have been blended together in the Article 25 (B) by labeling them as part of Hindu religion. Marriage of these minorities is registered as a marriage held according to Hindu traditions.

Kanwarpal Singh also said that the ambition of Sikhs to establish their uniqueidentity was being crushed by Indian authorities under the pretenseof maintaining the integrity of Indian sub-continent.

    • I have again posted my response for other readers to your previous equally ridiculous assertions that the Indian State was NOT responsible for the genocidal pogroms against the Sikhs from 1984 onwards so they can see that you have an agenda to try and blame phantom existential foreign forces rather than accept that it is the Indians who are responsible for these acts of religious intolerance towards minorities and need to mend their ways. ‘Why do you keep persisting on blaming foreign governments and even dead empires for the crimes committed by and in the name of the Indian State? What has the dead Roman and British Empires got to do with the genocidal pogroms against the Sikhs instigated, carried out, sponsored, approved, sanctioned, covered up and to this day defended by the Indian State (its politicians from all parties, its police and judiciary are all guilty of failing their sacred duty as much as the mobs encouraged, armed and given free reign to murder Sikhs with impugnity). As for the American Empire we wouldnt even know some of the facts of these atrocities if we didnt have the Snowden leaks about what American intelligence was picking up from its embassy in Delhi in 1984 about how much of the violence was orchestrated by Rajiv Ghandis party. And again for the British Empire you wish to pass the buck onto it is thanks to their 30 year release policy of cabinet papers that we know that Indira Gandhi traitorously asked a foreign and former imperial power for military assistance in attacking Darbar Sahib more than six months before it happened (contradicting Indian army who said they had to do Operation Bluestar because time was so pressing). Where is the Indian Empires policy towards releasing governmental papers? They burn them and lose them and march into the museum and library of Darbar Sahib to loot its relics to try and rewrite Sikh history.’ Again RSS Harinder is blaming anyone who is not Indian for these sacrilegous crimes despite the FACT that some of the criminals have been caught red handed (and are Indian) and that those who have protested peacefully have been shot dead by Indian Punjabi police (and who in turn have been protected from prosecution by their Indian superiors). We all know which ‘Empire’ is involved in these crimes RSS Harinder and it isn’t the dead empires of Rome and Britain. East Punjab was created out of the PUnjab (the west going to Pakistan) in 1947. Haryana was carved out of the former state of East Punjab on 1 November 1966 on the basis of language distribution as Punjabi Hindus voted to abandon the language of Punjabi for Hindi. The redistribution of river waters should have been done with consultation with the Punjabi people (whose farmers are absolutely dependent on it and India too for that matter as Punjab was the bread basket of India) not through diktat from central government. That is the Sikh complaint in relation to the reckless diversion of river waters which was unfair to the Punjab (and thus disproportionately to the Sikhs as the majority community in Punjab).

You are looking at the wrong causality, Bhindranwale died in 1984 but the injustices against Sikhs started decades before that when promises and assurances given to Sikhs to join India (and reject the setting up of their own Sikh state) by Nehru and the Congress Party were reneged upon. The sharing of state capital (Chandigarh) between two states, the redistribution of river water(the Punjab means 5 rivers and water is essential to Punjabs history and agricultural base), the denial of a Sikh marriage act recognising the Anand Karaj (which effectively meant that Sikhs were being counted as Hindus), the rejection of Punjabi as the language of Punjab, the cleaving off of Punjabs land to form another state territory with Haryana, etc the grievances are well documented in the Anandpur Sahib Resolutions formulated in the sixties and seventies. The truth of what I am telling about communal causality is further demonstrated in the 1992 Bombay and 2002 anti Muslim riots these events would not have occurred had the apparent acceptibility of collective punishment of a religious minority been set in precedent with the anti Sikh pogroms of 1984. That communal intolerance to religious minorities is how India and Pakistan were born and it is an underlying problem that Hindus (as they form a majority in the Indian subcontinent and it is always incumbent on the ruling people whether they be white South African or Hindu Indian) have to be big enough to recognise and be magnanimous enough to resolve for the sake of the greater good. The integrity (not to mention honour and morality) of the Nation would be guaranteed by this carrot approach rather than the stick which always fails in the end and only leads to bloodshed and suffering of innocents.
The Nirankaris are a heretical sect which were first supported by the British in their divide and rule policy to try and neuter the Sikhs pre-independence. Indira Gandhi resurrected this policy for exactly the same nefarious reason during the 1970s as her Congress Party could not overhaul the Sikh political party at that time the Akali Dal through the ballot box. The Sikhs had been peacefully demanding their rights from Independence in 1947 as it became clearer that Nehru having wooed / bamboozled Master Tara ISngh and SIkh leadership into siding with India (instead of Pakistan or re-establishing their own sovereign Sikh state such as the Khalsa Raj of Maharajah Ranjit Singh which encompassed territory from Kashmir, Punjab (north of the Sutlej) and lands up to the Khyber) had no intention of honouring promises made. This lack of faith from Nehru led to the Anandpur Sahib Resolutions to address Sikh grievances over two decades before Bhindranwale even came on the scene although you are correct to note that the murders of innocent SIkhs by the state sponsored and protected Nirankaris led to Sikh backlash. You are incorrect however to continually raise spectre of Empires armies the British Empire was and is dead and had no involvement whatsover in oppressing Sikhs in Punjab during the 1970s, 1980s or 1990s. As for the American EMpire, the worst you can say is that they remained quite when they knew the extent of human righst violations by both Indira and Rajiv Gandhis Congress Governments (as revealed in Snowdens leaks of US Embassy cables during those times). The fact that the State and PUnjab Government made Punjab into a police state is not excusable by saying that the human rights and civil rights abuses that then then subsequently ensued against the SIkhs was inevitable (as whenever governments create police states such abuses occur) as those politicians, those police officers, those army personnel, those judges et al were all fellow Indian citizens and should have treated Sikhs as their brothers. The sadistic and illegal treatment the SIkhs were subjected to (the legacy of which continues to this very day) is not excusable and those who engaged in it should be brought to book not because of the Geneva conventions (which apply to war combatants) but because of human rights violations and crimes against humanity.

  1. Let me explain you how Empires decide fate of Nation’s

    1) Sikh Nation of Ranjit Singh was dismantled in Anglo- Sikh war
    2) In 1947 Mr Radcliffe of British Empire transformed Punjab to Pakistan Nation and settled on it Non Punjabi Muslim’s from Indian Subcontinent’s.

    3) In 1984 British SAS officer advises 1980-1990 Indian govt and you get a Genocide and Blue star as a gift.

For Empires RSS, SGPC all are irrelevant.

You may not realize it but Empire is every where especially in Nation building and war’s.

    • Let me explain (for the umpteenth time) to you that you have a completely cock-eyed and prejudiced regard for historical facts. (1) The Khalsa Raj of Maharajah Ranjit Singh was not dismantled in ‘Anglo-Sikh War’ (sic) (actually there were two of these) but by the treachery of the Dogra brothers Dhian Singh (Vizier) and Gholab Singh (rewarded for his traitorous collaboration by the East India Company by being given the Rajaship of Kashmir which has led to the anomaly of a Hindu Raja overlording a predominantly Muslim state). These two Hindu Dogra traitors may have hastened Maharajah Ranjit Singh’s death (there is a suggestion that he was poisoned) and acted on the behalf of the EIC promising the co-operation of their commanders in the field and all battle plans recruiting two particular ‘Sikh’ generals Tej Singh & Lal Singh to betray the Sikh Empire and working their way through Ranjit’s successors (Kharak Singh was probably also poisoned and Dhian’s Singh hand is bloodstained with the murder of the grandson Nau Nihal Singh in particular). Their treachery was absolutely vital in the loss of the first Anglo Sikh War when EIC’s General Gough was on the point of defeat at the battle of Mudki (and was in the midst of burning all his papers in his tent so convinced was he of defeat) when the Dogras, Tej and Lal Singh withheld supplies and refrained from joining the attack. The lesson to be learned is that the ‘Empire’ did not win by annexation but by the infiltration of traitors and collaborators within the Sikh Empire – sound familiar today?
      (2) The drawing of the border between India and Pakistan to the detriment of the Sikhs was largely due to Nehru’s duplicity with Master Tara Singh. Nehru made promises (that he never intended to keep) to the Sikhs which were designed to prevent Tara Singh taking up Mountbatten’s offer to restore a Sikh kingdom (albeit one with a smaller territory than before annexation). Mahatama Gandhi toured the Punjab and made speeches to the Sikh masses backing up Nehru’s Congress claims that the Sikhs sovereignty would be respected within a greater India. Sikhs were stupid too trusting and completely bamboozled by Nehru (a man whose integrity would have been revealed to them if they had known he was committing adultery with Mountbatten’s wife at the same time which who knows might have led to Mountbatten giving a little less territory to India as it had been generally supposed for example that Lahore would go to India which would have great for the Sikhs in terms of their military and religious history (Nankana Sahib would have been ceded as well). If the Sikhs had a visionary leader like Jinnah we would have not been fooled (Gandhi even promised Jinnah a Muslim could be leader of India if that would keep the Muslims from forming Pakistan and he still understood this would never play with the Hindu majority masses). This lack of visionary Sikh leadership (added to with active collaboration and treachery) is still used today to bamboozle the Sikhs out of their rights in India. (3) It is absolutely outrageous that you are blaming the British for the attack on Darbar Sahib (not to mention all the other Gurdwaras in Punjab happening at the same time) and SIkh genocide from 1980 to mid 90s! INdira Gandhi herself approached British PM to ask for help in how to attack Darbar Sahib in January 1984. The British sent a SAS Major to plan it but the Indian army true to their incompetence and arrogance rejected this treacherous plan for a more calamitous one of their own. The Indian PM hated the Sikhs because the Akali Dal were agitating for Sikhs rights (denied to them from the moment India was birthed) and had formulated the Anandpur Sahib Resolution during the 1960s into the 70s. Instead of addressing those genuine grievances Sikhs were continually rebuffed – the 1966 secession of Punjabi Hindus abandoning both their mother tongue Punjabi and state Punjab for Hindi and the creation of Haryana with all the attendant subsequent issues surrounded unfair re-channelling of Punjab water without Sikh consent (who were the majority in an agrarian dependent Punjab and against established worldwide riparian conventions) right up to the murder of Sikhs by Nirankari’s backed by Indira Gandhi (did I mention she also instigated an illegal and draconian state of emergency in India from 1975 to 1977 in response to being found guilty of fraud by a court). Sikhs were pivotal in fighting against her despotism (because her Congress could not defeat them in Punjab) from the moment she illegally declared a state of emergency (in order to stop court proceedings against her which had found her guilty of election fraud in Ahmedabad). Nothing to do with British Empire but purely Indian Brahmanical thinking. She and her Congress Party (going back to the treachery of her father Nehru whose own lack of integrity is further revealed that when he as PM lost the war to China he did NOT even resign whilst my family members lost limbs and eyes fighting the Chinese army!) are solely responsible for the betrayal of promises made to Sikhs to induce them to throw in their lot with India rather than re-create their own Sikh sovereign state. Indira instigated terror in the Punjab to in a divide and conquer policy to undermine the Akali Dal’s political power in Punjab (In 1978 Sikhs were being murdered with police and political collusion by Nirankari proxys of Indira Gandhi) and then cynically used it as an excuse to attack the Sikhs directly with Operation Bluestar (planned and carried out by the Indian Army against the wishes of two of its top generals who were subsequently removed by Indira Gandhi). The genocide of Sikhs in Delhi in 1984 were not carried out by the British but by Hindu mobs orchestrated by Congress Party Officials with the full consent of the Indian army, police and judiciary. Everyone knows this but you are still acting as an apologist which disgusts me – no matter how much you keep peddling lies ‘RSS Harinder’ they will NOT be accepted as the truth and you are making the case for Sikh self-determination ever stronger with your criminal amnesia and denial.
AS you are a Hindu (posing as a Sikh for nefarious reasons) I can quite understand why you wish to shift blame and attention onto Sikhs and existential forces rather than address the actual historical facts of the case but then to even absolve yourself of this responsibility and blame foreign Empires – you are either genuinely delusional (which may account for your poor grasp of history although the RSS attempts to change that in Indian history school textbooks may also be to blame) or cynically trying to condemn the Sikhs as whenever they raise their heads in dissent you accuse them of being militants or terrorists (although cant quite bring yourself to use such terms when we talk of Bhagat SIngh or Udham Singh when they resisted despotism and tyranny of the sarkar). Very telling of your real agenda and the frequency with which you post in this Sikh website with the same anti-Sikh drip-drip message. Truth and reconciliation is only possible when you are willing to accept the unpalatable truth and are genuine about reconciling – you clearly are not there yet and as a consequence not only do the Sikhs continue to suffer but India herself is dishonoured.

  2. Harinder RSS agents – even you cannot be comparing the Sikhs fate with the Iraq, Syria and Libya. Sikhs lost for reasons of the Hindu Dogra – who showed their true colours when they became traitors……
You are just unbelievable… what you expect from people like you can see no further than their noses…

    • Sister, it is not just a wilfully woeful ignorance of history that RSS Harinder is alluding to but the lessons that such history actually teaches in that Harinder is intimating that Sikhs should not fight for their rights lest their homeland becomes a chaotic mess like those of Iraq, Syria and Libya. IN other words he is basically threatening the Sikhs to keep quiet or all hell will break loose upon their lives (by the State and its Hinduvta operatives). He is completely blind to the fact that we are Sikhs and not Muslims (as the people of Syria, Iraq and Libya are) and that we have already gone through the horrific experiences of the two holocausts suffered under the Muslim Durrani Empire, the holocaust of Punjab’s partition under the leadership of Nehru, the terror under Indira Gandhi, the genocidal pogrom under her son Rajiv and the mass extermination and terrorisation of Sikh youth under Beant Singh and have not only endured but like iron in the fire we have come out the side as forged steel. You can’t really blame him for not understanding because he is a Hindu and fear and deference is unfortunately a part of their culture and religious upbringing. He like his Hinduvta brothers fundamentally believes that if you repeatedly state a lie enough times it will be accepted as truth because that persistent method has worked for millenia after all with keeping their Dalit brethren in line (and under their heel) until the last twenty odd years when even the Dalit has begun to resist and demand his rights as a human being. Also his sad dedication to the notion ‘my country right or wrong’ blinds him to ever entertain the truth that India is responsible for the crimes and atrocities committed in her name by Indians upon fellow Indians and instead forces him reflexively to claim all such culpability can be transferred to long dead foreign Empires. I truly pity him and his ilk for they have betrayed the ideals upon which India was founded and yet utterly deludedly think they are upholding India’s honour as they rape her of dignity and integrity.

  3. Have you seen fate of Iraq, Syria, Libya.
Sikh nation was also destroyed by British Empire.
Nation’s are subjugated by all Empire’s of that time.

    • Again utterly untrue. One man created the Khalsa and the Khalsa went on to oust the Moghul / Afghan overlords in Punjab. It is not other empires which destroy nations as you well know but the radical idea. By Guru Gobind Singh Ji’s hand it was the transformation of his Sikhs from sparrows into hawks – if he had not done so would modern day India exist for it is founded on the blood, sweat and tears sacrifice of Sikhs and all the Hinduvta mafia flag wavers would now all be descendants of fundamentalist Muslims living in an equally repressive and religious intolerant Islamic Republic. India needs to desperately remember for what founding principles its foremost patriots (and yes inconveniently for the Hinduvta mob they were Sikhs Bhagat SIngh and Udham Singh) gave up their lives. A proper Republic Day would see the immediate release of all Sikh political prisoners and quashing of their convictions.

  4. How can a day that attempts to celebrate a constitution de-recognizing and denying freedom of ideology to many of its citizens be called a ‘re-public’ day?
