After Almost a Year of Struggle, Bapu Surat Singh Khalsa Remains in Chardi Kala

2015-08-06_bapu-surat-singh_before-after2LUDHIANA, Punjab—Bapu Surat Singh Khalsa’s struggle for the release of political prisoners will complete one year on January 16, 2016.  In the past 12 months, him, his family and supporters have gone though a massive struggle, accompanied by many hardships.  

Bapu Surat Singh Khalsa remains steadfast and is looking forward to the release of other political prisoners who have so far not received any relief despite competition of their sentences.

Bapu Surat Singh is currently admitted in the DMC Hero Heart hospital, where he is being force fed vital nutrients.  Although he is still alive, his body has faced permanent damage due to the year long struggle.

Even after one year of struggle, Bapu Surat Singh Khalsa says that either the Singhs will be released or he will pass away.  Bapu Surat Singh Khalsa is seeking release of political prisoners who have completed their terms, but have not been released.  He has said several times that his struggle is not alone for the Sikhs, but people of all faiths and backgrounds who do not have any pending charges against them and have completed their sentences.

Bapu Surat Singh Khalsa’s Demand

Bapu Surat Singh has said that the Government should start the process of releasing illegally incarcerated prisoners starting with the Sikhs.  He has stated that as a minority in India, Sikhs have gone through various struggles and hardships, despite having contributed to India’s independence  in such a large magnitude.
