Fake Encounters: High Court Refuses to Record Official Statement by Gurmeet Pinky

Pinky:dateline:Replying to apetition moved by Bibi Gurjit Kaur and Bibi Parvinderpal Kaur seeking official recording of Gurmeet Singh Pinky’sstatements, the Punjab & Haryana High Court yesterday expressed helplessness in trusting hisstatements. Pinky is a former police cop who was planted as a “cat” against Sikh militants.

Referring to a similar case of fake encounters in Punjab, which is under trial in the Supreme Court, the Court suggested the petitioners to produce a judgment recommending the Court to record Pinkys statement. The High Court deferred the next hearing on the case to January 29 without summoning to any party mentioned in the petition.

Bibi Gurjit Kaur is niece of Shaheed Bhagat Singh while the other petitioner Bibi Parvinderpal Kaur is wife of a Shaheed Bhai Gurpreet Singh who was martyred in a fake encounter by the Punjab police. Both petitioners had moved the petition following the exposures of staged and fake encounters in Punjab by Gurmeet Pinky.

An affidavit of Gurmeet Pinky expressing will to witness in the Court was also produced by the petitioners in this case. Pinkys exposures about the fake encounters committed by Sumedh Saini had earlier stormed the media outlets.

  1. Do not rebel against any Nations or states.
They can do lot of harm .
You can only express your resentment by ballot box.
Only Empires are capable of creating and destroying States.

    • Your mantra that change can only be achieved through the ballot box is knowingly cynical as you know the odds are completely stacked against voices of dissent being raised when a protester can be aribitralliy detained and access to representation on the media is heavily restricted (the Badal Dal owns the PTC TV station in PUnjab and you could see the bias in their deliberate under reporting of numbers attending the Sarbat Khalsa for example . Peaceful protest is a vital part of a working democracy as is the education of the masses so that they know what it is they are voting for it seems to me you are interested in throttling both and claiming to do so legitimately under the veil of elections which are often corrupt (how many votes are simply bought by politicians who are keeping an electorate both in the dark and focused on subsistence living and communalism?) Democracy should be free and fair for all voters so that the will of the people can prevail rather than the vested interests of those in power who naturally just want the continuation of their privilege. Indian democracy is as frail as German democracy was during that post Weimer Republic period which allowed Hitler’s National Socialists to acquire seat after seat following election after election in that its democracy is dominated by a massively uneducated populous which is kept that way by parties (come political and some religious) who rely upon illiteracy and communal prejudice to keep their vote banks well stocked. Over seven lakh ghost voters of the total 1.9 crore voters have been detected in Punjab in the past eight months. It was for the first time in the electoral history of Punjab that such a large number of fake voters had surfaced in a brief period of eight months March till October-end 2015. The Election Commission was forced to go in for mass deletion of such votes. In the past, the Election Commission used to delete around 1.5 lakh votes in a year mainly on account of death or migration of voters to other states. So if the electoral system is cynically and deliberately stacked against you what then do you do to protect your rights and change the mind of the Sarkar?

  2. Absolutely astounding and just shows the warped Kafkaesque world of the Indian justice system. A former police officer who admits to having carried out kidnappings, torture and extra judicial killings is NOT allowed to go on the record for his crimes! Presumably this is because he committed them whilst in uniform on behalf of the State (no matter that he might even have personally enjoyed the sadistic thrill of having the power of life and death over his victims) and his whistle blowing confession would lead to other officers including his superiors like Sumedh Saini (who coveniently has been spirited away) having to be impeached for their similar crimes. And if the niece of Shaheed Bhagat Singh – the foremost freedom fighter of the country – is being refused what chance do ordinary Sikhs have of petitioning the courts for justice? RSS Harinder, how can you defend this and say Sikhs can get justice in Indian courts – the judiciary is giving a ‘get out of jail’ free card to a former policeman who confesses to being a killer in Punjab but they will instead chase after a single Sikh the other side of the world in Portugal?! Is it any wonder then that after 31 years the politicians who control the police like Kamal Nath, Sajjan Kumar, Jagdish Tytler etc have nothing to worry about.
