Bapu Surat Singh Khalsa: Punjab Government to Release Bhai Makhan Singh Gill Today

:dateline:Delivering promises made to the Bandi Singhs Rihai Sangharsh Committee (BSRSC), the Punjab government today sanctioned the release of Bhai Makhan Singh Gill who has been�languishing in a maximum security jail of Nabha for the last five years. He was sentenced�with a 10 years of imprisonment�in relation to�charge of being found with�arms and ammunition. He was also facing charges of the Unlawful Activities Prevention Act.�He was arrested in 2010 near Hoshiarpur.

Conveying information to Sikh24, Bhai Bhawandeep Singh Sidhu, of the BSRSC, said�that he was informed�of�the release of Bhai Makhan Singh Gill this�morning by a government official.

At the time of writing this report, family members of Bhai Makhan Singh Gill were waiting for him outside Nabha jail. He was expected to be released at 7:30 pm.

It may be recalled that Bapu Surat Singh Khalsa has been on continuous hunger strike since January 16, 2015 seeking the release of Sikh political prisoners.

Despite numerous�efforts to quell the struggle�by the Punjab government, Bapu Ji remained firm in his stand. The�government had finally taken action and�recommended the release of several political prisoners.

  1. Compare Bapu Surat Singh’s saintly achievements with those diabolical ones of Makkar and his SGPC acolytes. The Gurus proven totally right to warn us against the creation and installation of a priestly class to stand between the common man and the message of Guru Granth Sahib Ji.
