Sukhpal Khaira Formally Joins Aam Aadmi Party; Attends Rally at Fatehgarh Sahib

CHANDIGARH—Former Congress leader Sukhpal Khaira was formally inducted to Aam Aadmi Party’s fold on December 25 in Chandigarh in the presence of AAP’s State In-charge Sanjay Singh, State Convener Sucha Singh Chhotepur and Member Parliament from Sangrur Bhagwant Mann.

Addressing a Press conference at Chandigarh, Sukhpal Khaira criticized the State head of Punjab Pradesh Congress Captain Amarinder Singh for alleged involvement in Ludhiana City Centre Scam and Amritsar Improvement Trust scandal. He held Amarinder’s son Raninder Singh and his wife Preneet Kaur responsible for black money being kept in Swiss Banks.

Terming the Shiromani Akali Dal and Punjab Pradesh Congress Committee as a two sides of the coin, Sukhpal Khaira said that Captain Amarinder Singh and his coterie would loot the territory of Punjab like Badal-Majithia if they succeed in getting into power.  Khaira alleged that Amarinder was “hand-in-glove” with the Badal family. “These Congress leaders have been virtually playing a friendly match with the Akalis for the past nine years. They only want party workers to fight and feel the heat while they back each other,” he added.

Sukhpal Khaira said that between these two sets of politicians (SAD and Congress), elections in Punjab have become a Rs 10 crore venture for every candidate. He said that instead of those who deserved to be promoted they brought in sugar mill owners, liquor barons and real estate dealers as candidates and elections became a dirty money game.

Khaira also attended a political rally at Sri Fatehgarh sahib with other prominent AAP leaders.  After addressing the rally, he stated that the fervor within AAP supporters is much different from that of Congress or Akalis.
