Bapu Surat Singh Khalsa: Punjab Govt Expresses Helplessness in Releasing Sikh TADA Prisoners

:dateline:On the call of Punjab government, a co-ordination committee comprising of Bhai Ravinderjit Singh Gogy (son of Bapu Surat Singh), Bhai Gurnam Singh Sidhu, Bhai jatinder Singh Issru, Bhai Bahadur Singh Rahon abd Bhai Bhawandeep Singh Sidhu yesterday met Akali Dals spokesperson Dr. Daljit Singh Cheema at his residence in Chandigarh.

It is notable that Punjab government had earlier started talks with Bapu Surat Singh Khalsa via Dr. Daljit Singh Cheema, due to hisdeteriorating health.

The co-ordination committee presented a list of 28 Sikh political prisoners to Dr. Daljit Singh Cheema who thoroughly studied their cases. After going through list of 28 Sikh detainees, Dr. Cheema expressed helplessness in granting premature release to prisoners indicted under TADA (Terrorist and Disruptive Activities Prevention Act) as it was not in ambit of Punjab government. However, Dr. Cheema promised to review the cases of four political Sikh prisoners.

Talking with Sikh24s correspondents, Bhai Ravinderjit Singh Gogy saidthat the Punjab government was compelling them to convince Bapu Surat Singh Ji Khalsa to give up his struggle but they have replied that initiating struggle was Bapu Jis personal decision and they couldnt do anything in regard.

Although the talk with Dr. Cheema didnt yield expected results but takingthe Governments initiative in a negative way would also be wrong he added.

About the release of Sarbat Khalsa 2015 organizers, Bhai Gogy said that the co-ordination committee urged Dr. Cheema inreleasing Bhai Gurdeep Singh Bathinda but he said that he would be released along with all other organizers.

  1. I am a Sikh ‘Harinder’, I am duty bound to oppose the RSS on a point of principle but also because they are the militant wing of the present ruling political party which gives them access to things like rewriting school history text books, influence and financial resources of the State. The Congress Party was in a similar position in 1984 with its deployment of flash mobs and control of police and we know where such absolute power led…

  2. Don’t bother about RSS bigotry.
It is not a present problem or our problem alone .
It is the problem of rest of the world too.
The world knows how to deal with it.
You concentrate more on bigots amongst us .

  3. In case sympathizers of violent ideologies like yourself ;
Once again decide to declare a war against Punjab or Indian state by a violent rebellion then remember the old saying

“ALL IS FAIR IN LOVE AND WAR”.

If you are looking for a change then then one mean available to you is by a

    “BALLOT BOX”

    and become a Law maker

    • The Sikhs ARE Punjab (they are the majority population and have done more historically for its liberation and defence than other other community as well as having previously already established a Khalsa Raj Sikh state under Maharajah Ranjit Singh) so how can they declare war upon themselves? I have already dismissed your crass and immoral stance of ‘All is fair in Love and War’ as being the dictum of the Nazis tried at Nuremburg. The world rejected it and with the advent of the internet and videoing on smart phones you would be foolish to think of getting away with such atrocities in this day and age. Your mantra that change can only be achieved through the ballot box is knowingly cynical as you know the odds are completely stacked against voices of dissent being raised when a protester can be aribitralliy detained and access to representation on the media is heavily restricted (the Badal Dal owns the PTC TV station in PUnjab and you could see the bias in their deliberate under reporting of numbers attending the Sarbat Khalsa for example . Peaceful protest is a vital part of a working democracy as is the education of the masses so that they know what it is they are voting for – it seems to me you are interested in throttling both and claiming to do so legitimately under the veil of elections which are often corrupt (how many votes are simply bought by politicians who are keeping an electorate both in the dark and focused on subsistence living and communalism?) Democracy should be free and fair for all voters so that the will of the people can prevail rather than the vested interests of those in power who naturally just want the continuation of their privilege. As for your notion of law making being an absolute sacrosanct panacea I would remind you that the Sikh victims of 1984 are still waiting for justice 31+ years on from the hands of the Law. Justice must be done AND be seen to be done. Laws are changed not just by politician’s venal interests and legislators bowing to patronage concerns but by mass protest movements reflecting the will and mood of the people – again I draw your attention to the changes in attitude and law being made by those marching on the streets for women’s rights and the punishment of rapists who have been allowed to get away with their crimes for decades because of the prevailing attitude of the establishment.

      • You have no choice but to go through Ballot box or through Education.
Violent Rebellion will invite the mandatory constitutional responses.

      • I have never said one word about ‘violent rebellion’ and you are deliberating misconstruing peaceful demonstrations and protest as such which undermines the democratic process. I would remind you that Mahatma Gandhi, the father of the Nation, engaged in civil disobedience to government which claimed it could do whatever was needed for the sake of maintaining the peace and security of the state. ‘Mandatory Constitutional Responses’ – surely you are not again advocating arbitrary arrest, fake encounters, rape, torture, kidnapping, extra judicial killing and genocide as being constitutional let alone the proportional, responsible behaviour of a civilised democratic country against its own people?! The Internal Court in the Hague convicts those who believe so as being war criminals and those who engage in crimes against humanity.

  4. Don’t create a killer like Bhinderwala or his likes and we can form a

“Truth and Reconciliation commission” like they did in South Africa .

We all Indians can then happily co exist with each other .

    • You are looking at the wrong causality, Bhindranwale died in 1984 but the injustices against Sikhs started decades before that when promises and assurances given to Sikhs to join India (and reject the setting up of their own Sikh state) by Nehru and the Congress Party were reneged upon. The sharing of state capital (Chandigarh) between two states, the redistribution of river water(the Punjab means 5 rivers and water is essential to Punjab’s history and agricultural base), the denial of a Sikh marriage act recognising the Anand Karaj (which effectively meant that Sikhs were being counted as Hindus), the rejection of Punjabi as the language of Punjab, the cleaving off of Punjab’s land to form another state territory with Haryana, etc – the grievances are well documented in the Anandpur Sahib Resolutions formulated in the sixties and seventies. The truth of what I am telling about communal causality is further demonstrated in the 1992 Bombay and 2002 anti Muslim ‘riots’ – these events would not have occurred had the apparent acceptibility of collective punishment of a religious minority been set in precedent with the anti Sikh pogroms of 1984. That communal intolerance to religious minorities is how India and Pakistan were born and it is an underlying problem that Hindus (as they form a majority in the Indian subcontinent and it is always incumbent on the ruling people whether they be white South African or Hindu Indian) have to be big enough to recognise and be magnanimous enough to resolve for the sake of the greater good. The integrity (not to mention honour and morality) of the Nation would be guaranteed by this carrot approach rather than the stick which always fails in the end and only leads to bloodshed and suffering of innocents.

  5. You are a man full of hate and Violence and lack the capacity to forgive.
You epitomize the EVIL which exists amongst us SIKHS .
Don’t worry we have a Army of KPS Gills and KS Brars to ward of people like yourself an any one else like you .

    • Why are you still pretending to be a Sikh? Every reader knows from your venomous posts that you loathe what the Sikhs stand for both in religious terms (belief in One God and rejection of Caste system in particular) and their historical achievements. It is plain to all your bitter resentment, jealousy and enmity towards the Sikhs as it is your posts which advocate violence (you say again and again to Sikhs do not say anything when abuses are done against you, just submit, keep quiet otherwise the State will visit rape, murder and genocide upon you) and hate (in this last post your very own words betray this ‘You epitomize the EVIL which exists amongst us SIKHS’ (sic). Then you go on to threaten me with the spectres of killers like Brar and Gill (the latter in particular has been identified as breaking the very law he was supposed to be upholding!) as if they have any fear to a Sikh. I would forgive them their trespasses if they came out and admitted their guilt (just as Gurmeet Pinky has – although again very notable you have not posted any response to those articles concerning fake encounters and extra judicial murder he was actively involved in) because I am a Sikh (so believe that all men answer to Waheguru upon their deaths for the rights and wrongs they have committed in their lives and punished accordingly by divine writ) and because I am a true democrat who believes in reconciliation such as the one created through the ‘Truth and Justice Commission’ in South Africa. I know you are just a front for the RSS but as a human being you really need to take a good hard look at what you are proposing with your glee in threatening other Indian citizens with arbitrary arrest, police torture and extra judicial killing. It is my democratic right to dissent, that is how Governments change their attitudes and policies by the public mood – do you think the attitude and law would have changed in regards to women being raped in recent years if it were not for the mass protests in the streets against the status quo? I reach out to you as a fellow Indian to make our country what it should be the best in the world with a tolerance and acceptance of diversity the world can envy – that is why Sikhs threw in their lot in 1947 with India and Sikhs lost so much in land and peoples killed.

      • Punjab and Haryana was created out of a common United Punjab.
So we have no choice but to share every thing of our ancestral Punjab like we did with Pakistani Punjab in 1947.
Have they not got 2 rivers and the capital Lahore.
        Practice the fundamentals of Sikhism

        “SHARING”

      • East Punjab was created out of the PUnjab (the west going to Pakistan) in 1947. Haryana was carved out of the former state of East Punjab on 1 November 1966 on the basis of language distribution as Punjabi Hindus voted to abandon the language of Punjabi for Hindi. The redistribution of river waters should have been done with consultation with the Punjabi people (whose farmers are absolutely dependent on it and India too for that matter as Punjab was the bread basket of India) not through diktat from central government. That is the Sikh complaint in relation to the reckless diversion of river waters which was unfair to the Punjab (and thus disproportionately to the Sikhs as the majority community in Punjab).

  6. Let us live in peace and leave us alone .
We don’t need your violence any more .
    We believe in
    “SARVATT THA BHALLA”
    Just stay off India.

    • If you want to live in peace stop advocating violence against other religious minorities, respect their civil liberties and human rights. AGain and again you post telling Sikhs to be cowed otherwise violence will be visited upon them. This is the mistaken philosophy the Mughals used for centuries (by the way their murders of Sikhs weren’t done just by beheadings so not sure what idiotic point you were trying to make) and the British Raj used for a century. They are both gone and the Sikhs despite the loss of hundreds of thousands are still here. Learn that lesson – you cannot abuse us and threaten with force. BTW The SIkhs believe in ‘IK ONKAR’ – there is but One God. You should leave India and join ISIS and Taliban as they believe in suppression of civil liberties and human rights and arbitrary ‘justice’ just as you do so with your love of threats of violence and demand for status quo you will fit in nicely. I believe in democracy – proper and decent representation of the peoples not the furtherance of vested interests. My family has suffered lot to found India in 1947 and fight for its defence against Pakistan and China wars whilst you are doing your best to make those sacrifices meaningless by defiling the ideals of what India was supposed to be – a secular democracy that constitutionally guaranteed the rights of its religious minorities.

  7. M .Singh is an Empires Sikh who wants Indians Sikhs to go back to 1980 -1990 era .
We will not bite your bait and get our children killed and Raped by Punjab or Indian State .
We Know history as there is no Mughal rule ( No beheadings ) now nor is there a British Rule( No Jallianwala Bagh) .
You don’t kill innocent Indians by Bhinderwla like Sikhs and there will be no Blue star or 1984 Genocide .
India today is by the Indians ,for the Indians and off the Indians .
We don’t want any killers amongst us any more because the Law ,Police and Army will get him .

    • I am an Indian Sikh RSS Harinder and more of a patriot than you are because you are happy for the ideals upon which the country was founded in 1947 to be completely undermined. The only problem you have with me is that I am educated and literate so the kind of mob mentality brainwashing you need to keep status quo control of the masses won’t work. It is very telling that you NEVER have any response to my answers to your positions nor have any answers to my questions. The reason why is you can’t argue with fact. Dissent is an important part of a mature democracy but what you are after is a Brahminical top down regime where anybody who opposes your philosophy has to be liquidated. I am prepared to use the strength of argument because the truth is compelling but your exhortations are again and again of the kind ‘be quiet, be complaint, be submissive’ or else the state will rape and murder you. The father of the nation Mahatma Gandhi was arrested and imprisoned by the state for breaking its laws – was he wrong? What about Bhagat SIngh and Udham Singh who were hung by the State for defying unjust rule? They only killer is you RSS ‘Harinder’ as you both justify it by claiming thousands of completely innocent Sikhs were murdered justifiably form 1984 onwards and by your constant refrain on this Sikh website that Sikhs should tolerate injustice and abuses meekly otherwise they too will be murdered by and with the sanction of the State. That is called despotism not democracy but that is essentially what you are all about if you subscribe to the notion of a caste system where human beings can be divided into classes from birth and should just accept their stations in life.

  8. Don’t break laws . Don’t fight States or Nations .
They are all zealously guarded by Law ,Police and Army .
It can lead to all things which you will never like
eg :–Extrajudicial killings , Rapes ,Refugees ,Genocides etc etc .
Empires are the only power which can create and destroy any
    Nations or States.

    • And again we come to your never ending exhortations to the Sikhs not to behave like Sikhs and defend their civil liberties and human rights (as well as those of other faiths facing oppression and persecution including you might remember the Kashmiri Hindu Pandits under the Mughals) . This ‘slave mentality’ you have (telling Sikhs to be quiet, keep your heads down, eyes closed to abuse and injustice) is the reason India was conquered and subjugated for so many centuries by foreign rulers and why you had to wait for the Khalsa to rise up and drive them out. Don;t fight States or any Nation without legal sanction – what the hell does that mean? Bhagat Singh was wrong to stand against the British rule because resistance to British tyranny was illegal under the law at that time? Should Nelson Mandela have accepted the indignities of apartheid laws in South Africa because they were the legitimate sanctioned law of the land? WAs Martin Luther King wrong to defy the laws of Alabama and Georgia (voted for the electorate of those federal States) and just accept the Ku Klux Klan could firebomb black churches with Impunity? I know your answer to the latter question is a resounding yes as you have time and again urged Sikhs just to accept the bitter medicine of 1984 and ‘just move on’. We are Sikhs RSS Harinder – You obey laws when they are just and you defy and over turn them when they do not deliver justice. That is the message of Guru Gobind Singh Ji and we have taken that to heart to overthrow Mughal and British despotic rule and will continue to do so when anyone thinks to oppress us. The only Empire that controls you are not the dead Empires of yesteryear (Roman, Byzantine, British et al that you continually evoke to try and take the blame for Indian injustices) but the slave mentality you still labour under. It may be enough for you to cower and cringe as your forebears did before you but the Singhs were transformed from sparrows into hawks in 1699 so we cannot go back to scrabbling around gratefully in the dirt eeking out a miserable subsistence on bugs and worms. Don’t worry though we will dutifully stand up for you even though you don’t have the necessary backbone to do so yourself. You just keep on with your little parades and speeches in your khaki short pants – you and the hopelessly deluded RSS can be the entertainment division.
