Court To Pursue Hearing Against Tara Inside Burail Jail

:dateline:Due to the enforcement of section 268 of Cr.P.C (Code of Criminal Procedure) upon Bhai Jagtar Singh Tara, the Court will start hearing on the Chief Minister Beant Singh�s assassination case inside the Burail Jail, Chandigarh.�The�trial against Bhai Jagtar Singh Tara in this case was pending due to his escape�from Burail Jail in January 2004, alongwith Bhai Jagtar Singh Hawara and Bhai Paramjit Singh Bheora.

The Court will receive�records for the case from Supreme Court which were being held due to the petition filed by Jathedar Jagtar Singh, challenging his life sentence.

Former Chief Minister of Punjab, Beant, was assassinated on August 31, 1995 by a Babbar Khalsa activist Dilawar Singh, in a bomb blast at the Civil Secretariat, Chandigarh. The trial in the case began�in September 1995 against nine accused, namely Bhai Balwant Singh Rajoana, Bhai Jagtar Singh Hawara, Bhai Paramjit Singh Bhiora, Bhai Jagtar Singh Tara, Bhai Gurmeet Singh, Bhai Lakhwinder Singh, Bhai Shamsher Singh, Bhai Naseeb Singh and Bhai Navjot Singh.

The verdict in the case was delivered�against eight accused by the Chief Judicial Magistrate of Union Territory of Chandigarh on July 31, 2008. Bhai Jagtar Singh Tara was excluded in the verdict as he had escaped. ��
