:dateline:High Court of Delhi has transferred the trial of a case related to Sikh genocide of 1984 (in which Sajjan Kumar is indicted) from Karkardooma Court to Patiala House Court.
It may be recalled that the Sikh activist Joginder Singh had moved a petition against Karkardooma Court for not recording the witnesses carefully. Accusations were raised of witnesses being made to leave the room andmisinterpretations of statements being made when translating.
Thoroughly deliberating upon the petition, Justice Sidhartha Maridul of Delhi High Court transferred the trial of the case to the Patiala House Court.
The case will be committed to one of the session judges of Patiala House Court. Justice Sidhartha Maridul has stated in his verdict that the move was necessary to uphold the dignity of Judiciary and to promote the faith of the Courts of law amongst citizens.
Justice Sidhartha Maridul has also instructed the Patiala House Court tovisually record the testimonies of witnesses at the cost of both parties in the case.
The next hearing on the case will be held on December 8 in Patiala House Court and the Karkardooma Court has been instructed to handover all case related documents to Patiala House Court.
