Jathedar Baljit Singh and Baba Zaffarwal Remand Extended

AMRITSAR SAHIB, Punjab—Following a further four days long police remand, Jathedar Baba Baljit Singh Daduwal and Baba Wassan Singh Zaffarwal were produced in the local court of Amritsar on November 30 by the police. Strong security measures were taken by police while presenting the two in Court with Magistrate Harsimranjeet Kaur.

Defence lawyer Advocate APS Bhatia & Advocate Narinderpal Singh Bhatia informed Sikh24’s correspondents that the court denied further police remand of Baba Daduwal and Baba Zaffarwal after considering their points. They added that Magistrate Harsimranjeet Kaur has sent the duo on judicial remand until December 11.  

It is worth mentioning that Bhai Baljit Singh Daduwal was appointed as Jathedar of Takht Sri Damdama Sahib by ‘Sarbat Khalsa 2015’ held in village Chabba on November 10.

Baba Wassan Singh Zaffarwal is National General Secretary of United Akali Dal that played vital role in organizing ‘Sarbat Khalsa 2015’. More than 20 activists were indicted and the Jathedars appointed by ‘Sarbat Khalsa 2015’ were all arrested under sedition charges by the Akali government.

Regular raids are being conducted by the police on the houses of activists that have not yet been arrested. Recently, Bhupinder Singh Kala Afghana is arrested by the police in relation to the ongoing sedition cases.
