Captain Amarinder Singh appointed as head of Punjab Pradesh Congress Committee

Captain Amrinder Singh newPATIALA, Punjab—Following poor performance in Punjab during the past Lok Sabha elections, the core committee of Congress has appointed Captain Amarinder Singh as head of Punjab Pradesh Congress Committee.  There were talks between Captain and Senior Congress leadership to oust Partpal Singh Bajwa.  Captain has previous served as the Chief Minister of Punjab and President of the Punjab Pradesh Congress Committee.

As news of Captain’s nomination as the president became evident, Partap Singh Bajwa and senior leader Sunil Jakhar resigned from the party.

It is worth mentioning that existence of Congress was on risk in Punjab due internal clash between the Congress leaders.  Senior leaders Bibi Rajinder Kaur Bhattal, Partap Singh Bajwa and Sunil Jakhar are against Captain Amarinder Singh.
