Procession in Commemoration of 546th Birth Anniversary of Guru Nanak Dev Ji

Amritsar Sahib—Commemorating the 546th birth anniversary of Guru Nanak Dev Ji, a Naggar Kirtan (religious procession) was organized in the holy city of Amritsar Sahib, by SGPC authorities. The religious procession started from Akal Takht Sahib under the patronage of Guru Granth Sahib placed in a gold palanquin.

A large gathering of Sikhs was witnessed during this customary procession that culminated at Akal Takht Sahib after winding through various localities of the holy city. SGPC officials & employees alongwith hundreds of Sikh devotees were accompanying the religious procession.

Giani Gurbachan Singh appealed to Sikh masses to shun the path of intolerance and work to reinstate communal harmony. He added that Guru Nanak Sahib went to shrines of all religions and taught them path to respect other religions. “Similarly we need to follow the message of Guru Nanak Dev Ji in the current atmosphere of intolerance across state” he added.

He appealed to Sikh masses to celebrate 546th birth anniversary of Guru Nanak Dev Ji with utmost ardor and enthusiasm. He also appealed to Sikhs to spread Guru Sahib’s teachings to every corner of the world for the sake of humanity.
