:dateline:The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI), India’s version of the FBI, has taken over the charge of cases related to the desecration of holy scriptures of Guru Granth Sahib Ji in and around Bargari.
Registering cases ofthree incidents, namely the missing of Holy Scripturesfrom village Bargari on June 3, desecration incidents following this theft and again desecration of holy scriptures following the sit-in-protests at Kotakpur, the CBI team has begun working on the cases.
According to sources, the CBI are collecting records from the Punjab police and will begin investigating from Faridkot in the upcoming days. A representative of the Punjab government has said that the government would provide every type of assistance to the CBI team.
Good .
This has dimensions which go beyond the Punjab state and Indian state.
The very fact that it has happened only in Punjab and not beyond its border goes to show that its aim is to push Punjabi back into 1980-1990 violent era.
So the Punjab state and Indian state will have to Probe it with a very open mind.
How does the fact that “the CBI are collecting records from the Punjab police”, guarantee subsequent findings will not be prejudiced?
Basically they need something to start with. They can go further once they have records from police plus interviews from different parties involved. To start an investigation they need basic information. It is their responsibility to investigate honestly and bring the truth forward.
