AMRITSAR SAHIB—In a press statement made earlier today, Karnail Singh Peer Mohammed has explained that he will be attending Sarbat Khalsa but has stepped down as an organizer.  “Sikh Student Federation has always remained attached to the Panthik struggle, we are dedicated to Panthik ekta and respect of Guru Granth Sahib Ji, and we will participate in Sarbat Khalsa as part of sangat,” he said.

Speaking about his differences with the organizers, he said that Sarbat Khalsa must also pass a resolution in support of Sikh sovereignty.  Peer Mohammed said that he had asked the organizer to ensure the Referendum on Khalistan is supported at Sarbat Khalsa.  In addition, he sought appointment of Baba Sarbjot Singh Bedi, Baba Avtar Singh Sur Singh Wale, Baba Baljit Singh Daduwal, Baba Ranjit Singh Dhadrianwala and Bhai Panthpreet Singh to lead the efforts during the November 10 Sarbat Khalsa.

Peer Mohammed has stated that ‘Sarbat Khalsa’ should be called on Vaisakhi at Sri Akal Takht Sahib and the current congregation should be named as ‘Preparations for Sarbat Khalsa’.

Earlier, Peer Mohammed’s statement had drawn flak from worldwide Sikh Sangat.  Social media has been full of posts condemning Peer Mohammed and questioning his role on previous Sikh issues as well.
