CCTV Camera Footage Leads to Arrest of Two Culprits For Sacrilege in Abohar

Abohar—In a recent incident of desecration of Sri Guru Granth Sahib Ji in village Dhani Latkan of Abohar, the district police have arrested two village natives in this case.

Addressing a press conference here in Abohar, SSP Swapan Sharma (Fazilka) informed that seven investigation teams were appointed to probe into the incident. He added that secret CCTV cameras were installed by the Police in Gurdwara Sahib after incident on October 26.  During intervening night of October 28 and October 29, the culprit Vijay Kumar along with his relative Sonu was traced hiding two torn ‘Angs’ of Sri Guru Granth Sahib Ji beneath blanket.

He informed that the culprits committed sacrilege of Sri Guru Granth Sahib mischievously on October 26 and took away the torn ‘Angs’ along with them. He asserted that no one is backing the culprits and it was just a mischievous act. “The duo has been indicted under section 295-A and 380 of Indian Penal Code,” he added.

Superintendent Police (Abohar) S. Harjit Singh, DSP (Abohar) Gurbhej Singh, DSP (Balluana) Jasbir Singh, DSP (D) Veer Chand, SHO Balkar Singh of Police Station-I, Sub Divisional Magistrate Rajpal Singh, Tehsildar Manjit Singh Bhandari and others were also present on this occasion.
