Disclosing this here, a spokesman of SGPC said that the president has taken this decision as per the decision of the SGPC executive committee. The Executive Committee had earliertold Makkar to resolve the issue.
Makkar had earlier suspended the Panj Piare after they issued summons for the appointed Jathedars of the five Takhts. The Panj Piare however refused to accept the suspension orders as they stated that no organization or committee was above the Panj Piare. ”We had taken the decision to summon the Jathedars considering the state of the Khalsa Panth,” said the Panj Piare after their suspension. They stated that Makkar’s order has no impact on us.
The decision to re-instate the Panj Piare has come after Makkar had a meeting with the executive committee, and a closed door meeting with the Panjab Chief Minister Parkash Badal. A number of prominent SGPC employees had resigned from their post following the decision by Makkar to sack the Panj Piare.
