Talking with ABP Sanjha, he said that he resigned from his post in protest of the desecration of Sri Guru Granth Sahib and the atrocities of the Punjab police on innocent Sikhs. He also clarified that he didn’t resign to join another party instead he will continue to be as a member of Akali Dal.
He expressed grievance that he had established the Akali Dal in Hoshiarpur but now he is dissatisfied at the working of Akali Dal.
Veteran Akali leader and SGPC member from Chananwal, Sant Dalbar Singh Chhiniwal has also resigned from his post against what he described as the Punjab government’s helplessness in controlling serial incidents surrounding the desecration of Sri Guru Granth Sahib.
Bhai Pritpal Singh Chhiniwal and Bhai Rajinder Singh Gogy have confirmed that Sant Dalbar Singh is currently on a visit to Canada, where he announced his resignation at a seminar.
SGPC member of the Sri Anandpur Sahib constituency Principal Surinder Singh has also resigned from his post. Addressing a press conference at Gurdwara Sees Ganj Sahib, Principal Surinder Singh said that rising incidents of desecration of Sri Guru Granth Sahib across Punjab has spiritually hurt every Sikh. But by committing atrocities on innocent Sikhs, Punjab state has damaged the wound further.
Lashing out at the Takht Jathedars, he said that misuse of the Takhts for political interests is extremely grievous for the Sikh nation.
He said that Jathedars have sledgehammered the pride of Sikh community by bowing heads before hypocritical politicians, saints and cult chiefs.
Organizer of the Bachpan Sanbhal Sikhi Prachar Lehar, S. Sarbans Singh Manki, has resigned his membership of the SGPC too.
In his resignation, he expressed that no one is beyond the customs of Guru Panth and the current incidents of desecration of Guru Sahib has irked him deeply. He too expressed his grief over the atrocities committed by the Punjab Police on peacefully protesting Sikhs.
