Makkar Changes His Tune, Blames Jathedars for Pardoning Ram Rahim

avtar makkarLUDHIANA, Punjab—SGPC President Avtar Makkar, who only weeks ago tried to convince the Takht Jathedars to continue their stand of pardoning Sirsa Cult Chief during an upsurge among Sikhs, has now taken a u-turn and accused them of making the wrong decision.

Blaming the Takht Jathedars for taking the decision hastily, President Makkar has stated that the Jathedars should have taken the Sikh organizations and sangat members into confidence before pardoning Gurmeet Ram Rahim. Makkar said that the Jathedars must live up to the aspirations of Sikhs.

Having remained at his house in Model Town, Ludhiana for many days now, Makkar is understood to be visibly shaken. His house is being guarded by hundreds of Police and SGPC Task Force contingents in fear for his safety.

On being reached by a Sikh24’s correspondent, Makkar accepted that the disconnection between Sikhs and the SGPC has caused the current tense stand-off in Punjab. He held Police and the administration responsible for current situation in Punjab.

Lashing out at the administration for not acting appropriately, he said that when the torn ‘Angs’ of Sri Guru Granth Sahib were reported on October 12, he went to where the incident occurred and asked the administration to stop any organizations from taking away the torn ‘Angs’ but the administration didn’t listen and that contributed to the unrest.

  1. hmm.. now he knows that his not gonna be forgiven in the history of SGPC and the fact that his term is up for good and the cleansing of SGPC AND AKAL TAKHAT will take place during Sarbat Khalsa! SIKH 24 why did you not question him as to why he turned his views around and asked the jathedars to stay with their decision???? If you did then why you have not published this answer??

  2. Makkar now proves of how low he is – who cares what he says now – is anyone listening you…… Makkar has made a mockery of the Sikh Religion – he must never be forgiven.
