BREAKING: Sikh Protester on Hunger Strike Dies at Harike Bridge

HARIKE, Punjab—A 50-year-old Nihang Singh who was on a hunger strike against the alleged desecration of Guru Granth Sahib at Harike died few hours ago.

He has been identified as Puran Singh, a resident of village Dholan Thathian, near Bhikhiwind town. He had been on a hunger strike for the past 4 days on Harike bridge where thousands of Sikh protesters are continuing stir against the sacrilege of Guru Granth Sahib. The death has put the administration in yet another tight spot as it is already facing very tense situation.

Some protesters said he was facing a heart problem due to which he could not bear hunger. The death has made the situation more tense in the area.

His dead body was not cremated by the protesters till this story was published.  Thousands of protesters have continued the protest in the area.
