:dateline:The Punjab Police have been shown to be triggering clashes with protesting Sikhs, according to witnesses during today’s disturbances in Kotkapura village.
J Singh, a resident of Kotkapura witnessed police beginning to fire water cannons at dozens of Sikhs who were sat reciting morning praters on the floor. They had been meditating and reciting Gurbani (prayers) through the night and into the day, as a peaceful protest at the ripping to shreds of Guru Granth Sahib Ji, discovered two days ago.
The unprovoked attacks by the police, during existing raised tensions then erupted in a huge backlash, which caused the praying Sikhs to retaliate, causing hundreds of police to flee. The video clip below shows the police and their armoured cannon vehicle fleeing as the Sikhs congregation retaliated against the Police’s heavy-handed approach.

Two confirmed deaths and 90 severely injured Sikhs have now been reported, resulting from the excessive�tactics of the police upon during a peaceful sit-in protest. A torrent of gunfire has then ensued, causing the young and old to come under fire.
Surprisingly, after three days of unrest, the SGPC, Punjab Government and police officials have thus far issued no statements.
