LUDHIANA, Punjab—Sharply reacting over Jathedars’ verdict of pardoning Sirsa cult chief Gurmeet Ram Rahim, Sant Samaj has requested the Jathedars to restore to earlier status of boycotting Sirsa cult. The decision was taken in a meeting of Sant Samaj held at Gurdwara Gur Gian Prakash, Jawaddi Kla under the patronage of Sant Baba Harnam Singh Khalsa. Sant Samaj has stated that Jathedars’ decision of exonerating the Sirsa cult chief has sledgehammered Sikh sentiments, so they must take backtrack their verdict and if they can’t do, they ought to resign from their posts.
Addressing the media gathering after meeting, Baba Harnam Singh Khalsa said that Jathedars’ verdict has undermined the customs of Sri Akal Takht Sahib. He maintained that Jathedars’ must have called a gathering before exonerating Gurmeet Ram Rahim. He added that three Sikh youth lost their lives in clash with Cult followers and hundreds of others suffered severely in these clashes. He said that if Jathedars fails to reconsider their move, then nobody would save them from the resentment across Sikh masses.
Sant Samaj has fully resolved to boycott the Jathedars’ decision.
