New Delhi, India—A five member delegation of Bandi Singhs Rihai Sangharsh Committee submitted a memorandum on September 8 in UNO’s office at New Delhi seeking intervention in the issue of political Sikh prisoners on the grounds of humanity and to encourage a probe about murder of Bhai Satwinder Singh Bhola, son of Bapu Surat Singh Khalsa. A copy of the same was also delivered to the US Consulate.
Terming the issue as a serious violation of Human rights, the delegation asserted that every prisoner who fulfils mandatory terms of his sentence deserves immediate release from prison. But by detaining prisoners even after serving their life sentences, the Indian regime has proved its communal and dictatorial approach.
Bhai Gurdeep Singh Bathinda (Convener, Bandi Singhs Rihai Sangharsh Committee), Bhai Jaskaran Singh Kahan Singh Wala (General Secretary, Shiromani Akali Dal Amritsar) , Bhai Manjinder Singh Jandi (Dal Khalsa), Bhai Sansar Singh and Bhai Gurpreet Singh were the five members constituting the delegation.
Bapu Surat Singh Khalsa’s struggle for the release of political Sikh prisoners has now spanned 235 days. Large numbers of police and intelligence contingents deployed around him, have seriously committed violations of human rights while force feeding him and physically abusing his supporters.
