NEW DELHI—AAP leader Kumar Vishwas, renowned for his poetic creativity, has apologized for using derogatory remarks against Sant Jarnail Singh Khalsa Bhindranwale. A video clip had surfaced online in which Kumar Vishwas had termed Sant Jarnail Singh Bhindranwale as devil ‘Bhasmasur’.
It is notable that Kumar Vishwas was to participate in a Kavi Darbar going to be held in Auckland on September 4 and 5, but the campaign against his visit to Auckland stormed social media sites.
On being compelled by the Supreme Sikh Society organizing the Kavi Darbar, Kumar Vishwas had to upload a video apologizing for his earlier comments about Sant Jarnail Singh Ji Khalsa Bhindranwale. In his statement, Kumar Vishwas stated that he holds deep respects for all Saints and Gurus, however he did not specifically take name of Sant Bhindranwale in his apology. Vishwas stated that his clip was taken out of context and he had no intention to harm religious harmony.

I have always maintained that I have respect for all the religions and I value all the religious leaders, Saints, Warriors who have ever fought for equality and humanity. If anyone ever feels that anything from my side has hurt their sentiments, I do apologise for it. At the same time, I would like to add here, that such edited and out of context videos have been circulated with malicious intent in the past also. There are certain power centers that wish to dent our mission of clean politics and corruption free India. This time, they are circulating such clips to hinder our campaign of drugs-free and corruption-free Punjab. But I hope that you friends are with me in this long battle for new Punjab. Repeating myself, if any of my words has hurt your sentiments, I apologise from my heart.
