SGPC Constitutes Special Committee to Refurbish Ancient Look of Historical Gurdwaras

AMRITSAR SAHIB, Punjab—The Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhik Committee (SGPC) has constituted a committee to renovate the ancient appearance of historical Gurdwaras. Under the new system, the Kar Sewa Jathebandis will be allotted sewa of historical Gurdwaras according to a pre-planned strategy by the SGPC.  

Spokesperson and Additional Secretary of the SGPC, Diljit Singh Bedi told Sikh24 that the SGPC President Avtar Singh Makkar has instructed the managers and secretaries of all Gurdwaras that any castration of the basic appearance of the Gurdwaras will not be tolerated. He has strictly instructed the managers to maintain the ancient appearance of Gurdwaras.

He advised that Haveli of Diwan Todar Mall is being given an ancient look with the aid of specialists. “We have tried our best to provide an ancient look to Kachi Garhi of Chamkaur Sahib and Thanda Burj of Fatehgarh Sahib,” he added.  Bedi also said that two museums dedicated to Baba Banda Singh Bahadur are under construction in Fatehgarh Sahib and Mukhlisgarh Lohgarh Sahib. He mentioned that efforts are being made to provide ancient look to the Quilas situated in Sri Anandpur Sahib.

Bhai Raghujit Singh Virk, Bhai Sukhdev Singh Bhaur, Bhai Rajinder Singh Mehta Bhai Nirmail Singh Jaulan, Bhai Mohan Singh Bangi, Dr. Roop Singh, S.Diljit Singh Bedi, Bhai Sukhwinder Singh, Xeon Manpreet Singh etc. have been taken into the committee at different levels.
