BREAKING: Bhai Rajoana Questions President on Delay in Carrying Out Court’s Execution Orders

PATIALA, Punjab—Bhai Balwant Singh Rajoana, a political Sikh convict on death row in the case of assassination of former Chief Minister Beant “Singh”, has written a letter to the President of India seeking explanation on why there has been delay in his execution.  In the letter penned on August 22, Bhai Rajoana asked for termination of the constitutional review petition filed by the Punjab Government, SGPC and DSGMC against his death penalty.

Copy of the letter shared with Sikh24 by his sister Kamaldeep Kaur reveals that Bhai Rajoana has justified the assassination of the Chief Minister Beant “Singh”.  Letter states that it was a need of the hour, otherwise Beant “Singh” would have continued murders of Sikh youth across Punjab.

It is noteworthy that Bhai Rajoana did not contest the case asserting distrust in the constitution of India. Death warrants were issued against him on March 13, 2012 by a trial court of Chandigarh.  This led to protests across Punjab and all over the world, and consequently a petition was filed without his consent to seek termination of his death penalty. The then President of India had suspended Bhai Rajoana’s execution, however, after three years, Bhai Rajoana has sought explanation why the court’s orders have not been carried out.
