FRANKFURT, Germany—Bhai Nirmal Singh Hanspal, a resident of Germany, is currently on his fifth day of hunger strike. He’s on hunger strike for a week in support of Bapu Surat Singh Khalsa, a Sikh activist who is demanding equal treatment for political prisoners in India.
Mr. Hanspal is camping outside the Indian Consulate in Frankfurt. The location is well suited for the hunger strike since he’s able to raise awareness of lack of human rights in India. “People are stopping by to question me about the hunger strike, it’s really working out well,” he told Sikh24.
“Bapu Surat Singh Khalsa is on hunger strike since January 16, 2015 seeking release of political prisoners who have fulfilled mandatory terms of their life sentences,” he stated.
Bhai Hanspal said that he fully supports the struggle of Bapu Surat Singh Khalsa. He also appealed the Sikh masses to come forward in Bapu Ji’s support.
Today was Bhai Hanspal’s fifth day of hunger strike. Sikh sangat of Germany is extending support to his hunger strike. A peaceful demonstration will be staged in front of Indian Consulate on Saturday in Frankfurt.
