

:dateline:Bhai Satnam Singh, a devout Sikh elderly man, had been found injured just�outside of Singh Sabha Gurdwara,�Derby,�in what police have revealed is suspected as a hit and run incident.�The highly respected 74-year-old man was discovered in Coronation Street, Pear Tree, at around 5am�yesterday.
Satnam Singh�was severely�injured and taken to the Royal Derby Hospital, where he later died.
He is understood to�have been walking to the Gurdwara Sahib, as he did each day, to prepare food (Langar) for the congregation.
Local community members are�shaken at the tragedy and coming together in mourning. Trained officers are helping to support the family at this time.�
Officers�are trying to trace a dark hatchback car which had been�seen in the area at the time of the incident. Any�local garage owners are also being asked to get in touch if a damaged car has been brought in for repair.
Police detectives�are appealing to�speak to anyone who was in the area of Coronation Street, Princes Street, Holcombe Street or Harrington Street between 4am � 5am yesterday or anyone who saw a collision.
