:dateline:SGPC has made strong objection over the statement by�Vishwa Hindu Parishad Patron Ashok Singhal in which he said that India will be a Hindu state by 2020.
Labeling Singhal�s statement as communal, SGPC President Avtar Makkar said that the backbone India’s growing success is secularism and all the religions in Indian constitution are given equal rights. He said that Singhal�s statement violate the secularist approach of India.
Makkar said that BJP came into power with the votes of civilian population of all religions, caste and creed. He said that all the religions had made efforts for the freedom of India, but Sikhs did much more than all others for the freedom of India.
He advised Singhal to refrain from making statements that impact the unity of India.
