:dateline:Tending robust relationship between France and Punjab, the French government has decided to install statue of Maharaja Ranjit Singh by connecting dots from past history. The statue will be installed at Saint Tropez along with the statue of General Jean-Fran�ois Allard who served as Military adviser to the King of Punjab from 1822 to 1839 (till death) after being exiled in India in 1822.
Jean-Fran�ois Allard was an officer in the Napoleon army before being exiled in India in 1822. Respecting the military knowledge of Jean-Fran�ois Allard, Maharaja Ranjit Singh assigned him task of creating �Fauj-e-Khas� and appointed him as the trainer of this Royal brigade. Jean-Fran�ois Allard was married to Princess of Chamba Bannou Pan Dei who�later settled in Saint Tropez, a beautiful city along the French Riviera.
All this could be made possible after 20 years long efforts of writer cum historian Henri Prevost Allard, who�is direct descendant of Jean-Fran�ois Allard. He is currently appointed as Deputy Mayor for Tourism of Saint Tropez. He recently had met the Chief Minister of Punjab S. Parkash Singh Badal.
After getting acquainted with the decision of French Government, Sikhs from UK and Punjab government had offered to finance and direct the installing of monument of Sher-e-Punjab Maharaja Ranjit Singh.
