SGPC To Organize�World Punjabi Language Conference

:dateline:With the motive of promoting Punjabi language, Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (SGPC) on Thursday announced�to organize World Punjabi Language Conference and constituted a committee of scholars to plan it.

Talking to media persons, the SGPC president Avtar Singh Makkar said that the body has resolved to hold the conference at Baba Banda Singh Bahadar Engineering College Sri Fatehgarh Sahib on October 24 and 25.

Makkar said that the SGPC felt the need of this kind of event for the promotion of Punjabi language. Punjabi writers, scholars and thinkers from across the world will be invited for the conference, he added. �

The committee which was set up comprises Ajit�s editor-in-chief Barjinder Singh Hamdard, Punjabi University V-C Dr. Jaspal Singh, Sri Guru Granth Sahib World University V-C Dr. Gurmohan Singh Walia, SGPC general secretary Sukhdev Singh Bhaur, executive member Rajinder Signh Mehta, secretary Roop Singh, Dr. Joga Singh, Dr. Balwant Singh Dhillon, Dr. Jagbir Singh Delhi, Dr. Deepak Manmohan and Dr. Parmjit Singh Sidhu.

Responsibility of committee coordinator has been given to Balwinder Singh Jaurasingha, additional secretary of the SGPC. The office will be established in Chandigarh quarter of�the SGPC to organize the mega event. Parmjit Singh Saroa will monitor the office activities and Dr. Anurag Singh will be its incharge. Diljit Singh Bedi will look after the media management.

    • And why should the people of Punjab pay for all of that?

      Last time I checked, Punjab is over 120,000+ crore in debt. Why not spend that money to solve problems in Punjab?
