:dateline:Amritsar session judge today pronounced life imprisonment for so-called Nihang Joga “Singh”, close aide of infamous Police cat Ajit Poohla, in a murder case (1991) of 7 members of a family belonging to village Khanpur. The guilty has also been fined worth Rs 20,000.
The convict got life imprisonment under section 302 (murder) and five years imprisonment under section 436 (mischief by fire or explosive substance with intent to destroy house) of Indian penal code (IPC).
It may be recalled that Ajit Poohla and Joga had massacred 7 members of the family of Bhai Joga Singh Khanpuri mercilessly on June 2, 1991. The victims included 4 children. Poohla and Joga both were booked for the crime. Former had been assassinated by two Sikh prisoners in jail while trial was going on.
