AMRITSAR SAHIB, Punjab—Foundation day of Sri Akal Takht Sahib, highest temporal seat of Sikhs, was celebrated by Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (SGPC) and the Sikh Sangat on Thursday.
Akhand Path Sahib was done to mark the holy day at Sri Akal Takht Sahib. Bhog ceremony of Akhand Path Sahib was performed on Thursday. Afterward, Gurbani Kirtan was sung by Sri Darbar Sahib Hazuri Ragi Bhai Lakhwinder Singh. Bhai Gurcharan Singh did Ardas.
Addressing the gathering, Akal Takht appointed Jathedar Giani Gurbachan Singh said that the Takht (sovereign authority) is highest and greatest of all the Takhts in the world from where Sikhs have always competed with atrocities committed by invaders and made efforts to help humble people.
He advised those Sikhs who parted ways with main stream of Sikhi, to dedicate themselves to Sri Akal Takht Sahib as humble Sikhs on the historical day. He also congratulated to Sikh masses for the day.
Sri Darbar Sahib head Granthi Giani Jagtar Singh, Bhai Kulwinder Singh Ardasia, SGPC secretary Roop Singh, Darbar Sahib manager Partap Singh were among those who were present on the occasion.
