MILAN, Italy—Appointed Jathedar of Sri Akal Takht Sahib, Giani Gurbachan Singh had to face opposition of Sikh sangat during his recent tour of Italy.
Giani Gurbachan Singh was to address a gathering at a Gurdwara Sahib in Cavo, however as soon as the Jathedar came to the podium to address the Sikh sangat, a youth from sangat questioned him of his unexplained silence about Bapu Surat Singh Khalsa’s struggle. The Gurdwara authorities immediately came into action and moved the youth out of the gathering hall. The Sikh sangat present there came forward in support of the youth and asked the Jathedar to answer his question.
The situation turned tense, leading to the program ending abruptly.
As per internal sources, Giani Gurbachan Singh was in Italy for a short trip and he reportedly departed the country the same day. It is notable that he had to face strong opposition of Sikh sangat outside the Gurdwara Sahib as well.
Bapu Surat Singh Khalsa has appealed to Sikh Sangat to remain peaceful throughout the struggle. The Sangarsh committee appointed by Bapu Ji has not endorsed the incident.

Brilliant, brave acts by Sikh youth, to break the cold, conspiratorial silence of these crooked cowards! The strange, unprincipled gurdwara leaders are unwilling to challenge the profuse, public failures and wrongs of this undemocratically, imposed ‘jathedar’. Which Sarbat Khalsa was he appointed by? He was appointed by a closed committee of the SGPC, to serve Badal’s interests and actions. He is no ‘jatehdar’. He is a plain and obvious puppet of Badal – the modern day Zakria Khan of Panjaab. Poor Panjaab is being destroyed and bled dry by these crooks and criminals.
