AMRITSAR SAHIB—The Sikh youth who were arrested this past weekend from the Darbar Sahib parkarma may be released soon. These youth were arrested under section 107/151 of Code of Criminal Procedure (Cr.P.C) for echoing pro-Khalistan slogans and send to the Gumtala jail.
The youth who were arrested had arrived from various parts of Punjab, including Gurdaspur, Amritsar, Tarn Taran, Ferozepur, Mukatsaar, Nawan Shehar, Ludhiana etc. A Britain based Sikh named Deepinder Singh (Derby) was also among those arrested. Father of Deepinder Singh had blamed the SGPC for leveling false charges against his son.
It can be revealed the SGPC and Punjab Government had implemented strict security measures during the 31st anniversary of ‘Ghallughara June 1984. The task force of the SGPC and the Punjab Police were successful in controlling any unwanted incident at Sri Akal Takht Sahib during the morning of June 6. But during the afternoon, a group of Sikh youth had a minor scuffle as the SGPC tried to stop them in the parkarma. These Sikhs were later arrested.
