Police: Shooting at Richmond Gurdwara Does Not Pose a Threat To The Public

2013-03-13-hateVANCOUVER, BC, Canada—Sgt. Stephanie Ashton has said the shooting that took place last night does not pose a threat to the Gurdwara congregation and the general public.  In a statement, she said, “We have no reason to believe the public is at further risk as a result of this targeted incident.  At this time, there appears to be no connection between the Sikh temple and the location of the murder.”

Gurdwara Nanaksar (Richmond) where the incident took place yesterday at 9:30 PM had services going at the time of the shooting.  Sangat was not hurt in the shooting and police is still trying to figure out what Edwin Shek-Yin Cheng (42), was doing inside the Gurdwara parking when he was shot.

Sgt. Ashton said that the police are still investigating the incident.

The incident took place just before 9:30 p.m. at the Nanaksar Gurdwara Gursikh Temple located at 18691 Westminster Hwy, Richmond, BC, Canada.
