AMRITSAR SAHIB—Strongly condemning the incident of tearing posters and abrupt firing on the Sikh sangat that led to martyrdom of one Singh, appointed Jathedar of Sri Akal Takht Sahib, Giani Gurbachan Singh has appealed the Government to file FIR against the Police cops and has ordered the SGPC to appoint special committee to look after this incident.

Jathedar said that the police is responsible for the tense situation in Jammu, as it instigated the religious sentiments of Sikh community by tearing posters of Sant Jarnail Singh Ji Khalsa Bhindranwale. He said that remembering martyrs of its community is basic right of every community. Instructing the SGPC President to appoint special committee, Jathedar asked him to make efforts for the legal action against the accused culprits.

Speaking about the call for shut down in Punjab, Jathedar said that he didn’t given any such call and alleged that some self-styled persons did so mischievously.  Jathedar said that a newly appointed committee will sort out the issue of release of Sikh political prisoners. He said that the Punjab government will seriously work legally for the political Sikh prisoners who have already fulfilled their mandatory terms of life sentences.

In a question about the martyrdom of Bhai Jaspal Singh Chaur Sidhwan in Gurdaspur, Jathedar clarified that his body was cremated only after registration of FIR against the Shiv Sena goons and Police officers were also transferred from Gurdaspur to keep the investigation unbiased.
