AMRITSAR SAHIB—Dedicated to the 31st anniversary of the holocaust of June 1984, an evidentiary book named ‘Ghallughara June 1984’ written by famous Panthik writer S. Baljit Singh Khalsa was released worldwide.
The book contains interviews of 13 eye witnesses of the Ghallughara including S. Simranjit Singh Maan, Bhai Mukhtiar Singh Mukhi, Bhai Joginder Singh Rode, Bhai Santokh Singh Rab Ji, Bhai Avtar Singh Varpal, Bhai Raj Singh Varpal, Bibi Pritam Kaur, Bhai Kartar Singh Bhathal Bhaike, Baba Ajit Singh Lohgarh, Baba Amarjit Singh Killa Hakima, SGPC employee Chhota Singh.
It is worth mentioning that interview of Bhai Joginder Singh Rode unveils many hidden truths of pre and post June 1984 episode. It may be recalled that Bhai Joginder Singh Rode was one of the victims of Manawala Kand and Saragarhi encounter. Illusions spread by government agencies about historical Manawala Kand had created vertical division among Sikhs. This interview washes out the illusions and exposes how the government diverted gunpoint of militants to their own ones.
This book of 304 pages constitutes four sections having two introductory articles. The first section named ‘ਜਰਨੈਲਾਂ ਦਾ ਜਰਨੈਲ’ portrays the divine personality of great Sikh of 20th century Sant Baba Jarnail Singh Ji Khalsa Bhindranwale with historical diary notes of Shaheed Bhai Rashpal Singh PA.
The second section named ‘ਘੱਲੂਘਾਰਾ’ elaborates inside scenario of Sri Harmandir Sahib Complex during the deadly attack by Indian army in detail. It contains 20 chapters about the June 1984 episode.
The third and fourth section throws light on the challenges being faced by young Sikh generation, in context of June 1984 episode.
