:dateline:In support of Bapu Surat Singh Khalsa, a Sikh youth named Balwinder Singh climbed on mobile phone tower in village Pamal near Hassanpur (district Ludhiana). He demanded the government to meet demands of Bapu Jee by demonstrating in a different way.
His move created tense situation for Police. After being informed, the Police force rushed toward the village and within few minutes, the village turned into�cantonment. Balwinder Singh warned that if Sikh political prisoners are not released, he would not step down from the tower.
Balwinder Singh is resident of village Kokri Phoola Singh.�After learning about their son’s actions, his father Nachhatar Singh, mother Hoshiar Kaur, village Sarpanch Jagdish Singh, former Sarpanch Harmandeep Singh reached on the spot and they requested him to step down from the tower but latter refused to do so. After 10 hours, he ended his protest when Panchayat assured him that they would take up the issue with concerned authorities.
It is worth mentioning that Balwinder Singh is labourer and firm supporter of Bapu Surat Singh. The eye witnesses told that before climbing on tower, he made arrangement of eatables. He carried a water bottle and a bed sheet along with him.
It is worth mentioning that Bapu Jee�s hunger strike for release of Sikh political prisoners has entered 138th day. These prisoners have completed their jail terms but still they are being kept behind bar illegitimately.
