BC Sikh Community to Commemorate 1984 Genocide Memorial on June 7th 2015

SURREY, BC, Canada—The BC Sikh Community will commemorate the 31st anniversary of the June 1984 Sikh Genocide, on Sunday June 7 starting at 6 PM. The event will be taking place at the Vancouver Art Gallery at 750 Hornby St, Vancouver, BC. Sangat is requested to note the change in venue, from Holland Park in Surrey to the Vancouver Art Gallery.

BC Sangat has held this memorial every year since the attack in June of 1984. Similar to every year, a number of notable speakers will be invited including speakers from other communities, specifically the Indigenous community of BC.

This year Balpreet Singh of the World Sikh Organization of Canada and Sukhdeep Singh Barnala will be the main speakers.

The speakers will present their thoughts on a number of different topics surrounding the Indian Army’s invasion of Darbar Sahib as well as the anti-Sikh programs of November 1984. There will be busses arranged from all major Gurdwara Sahibs Sangat is requested to be contact their Gurdwara Sahib for details. Sangat from BC is requested to attend the memorial with their friends and family.
