Chabeel is a sweet, cool non-alcoholic drink served by Sikhs to commemorate the martyrdom of Guru Arjun Dev Ji, the fifth Guru of the Sikhs.
June is one of the hottest months in India, and Sikhs all over the country are seen distributing free chabeel drinks as an act of service. Drinks are served to all, irrespective of their religious background.
Serving of ‘chabeel’ also represents the idea of ‘Chardi Kala’ (Eternal Optimism) in the Sikh community.
