Sikh Youth Front Observes 29th Martyrdom Anniversary of Shaheed Bhai Sukhdev Singh Sakhira

AMRITSAR SAHIB—Sikh Youth Front today held a religious program at village Sakhira to mark 29th martyrdom anniversary of Shaheed Bhai Sukhdev Singh Sakhira. The program was organized with assistance of Sikh Youth Federation Bhindranwala (Amritsar) and Shiromani Akali Dal (Amritsar). A number of Sikh preachers including Raagis and Kavishars glimpsed the devotees by addressing religious discourse.

An Amrit Sanchaar program was organized on this eve in which 60 persons took ‘Pahul of Amrit’. Kakaars were served free of cost by Sikh Youth organizations.

Appreciating the initiative of Sikh Youth Front, Bibi Paramjit Kaur Khalra said that Bhai Sakhira was a gem of Sikh nation, whose brilliance got masked by the government planted black cats. “Following the path enlightened by martyrs is our first duty,” she said. Talking of the hunger strike of Bapu Surat Singh Khalsa, Bibi Ji appealed the whole Sikh nation to unite on a common platform to ensure the release of Sikh detainees.

 President of SYFB (Amritsar) Dr. Gurjinder Singh said that martyrdom of Shaheed Bhai Sakhira was very unfortunate that pushed the struggle many years back. “Bhai Sakhira was a pillar of Sikh movement,” he added.  He expressed firmness to continue struggle for establishment of Khalistan.  

General Secretary of Sikh Youth Front Bhai Papalpreet Singh passed four resolutions along with the Khalra Mission Organization and the SYFB (Amritsar) on this occasion –

1) In first resolution, the bodies pledged to make efforts for the appointment of Commission to probe the fake encounters made by Punjab Police in last two decades of 20th century.

2) The second resolution raised the demand for investigation of increase in property possessed by bureaucrats.

3) The body pledged to make efforts for improvement in financial condition of farmers of Punjab and to strongly oppose the Land Acquisition Bill.

4) Fourth resolution expressed deep concern over women security in Punjab and decided to chalk out strong planning to ensure women security.

General Secretary of Shiromani Akali Dal (Amritsar) S. Jaskaran Singh Kahan Singh Wala delivered the message of S. Simranjit Singh Mann to Sikh Sangat. S.Mann said in his message that we can’t repay for the sacrifices made by Shaheed Bhai Sukhdev Singh Sakhira, but by making efforts for the establishment of Khalistan we will be able to pay tribute to his martyrdom.

More than 34 families of martyred families were honored on this occasion with Siropao. Bhai Pritpal Singh of Sikh Youth Front honored Bhai Wariam Singh Sakhira (Brother of Shaheed Bhai Sukhdev Singh Sakhira) with memento of great Sikh of 20th century Sant Gyani Jarnail Singh Ji Khalsa Bhindranwale and Siropao.

Bhai Amarjit Singh (Granthi, Sri Harmandir Sahib), Giani Vishal Singh (Kathavachak, Gurdwara Shaheed Ganj Sahib,Amritsar), Bhai Makhan Singh (Hazoori Ragi, Sri Darbar Sahib), Bhai Jaswant Singh (nearby of Bhai Sakhira), Kavishar Bhai Saroop Singh Soorwind, Kavishar Bhai Jaswinder Singh Shant, Dhadi Jatha Raniwalah, Bhai Shamsher Singh Koharhka (Distt. President of SYF, Tarn Taran), Bhai Harkirat Singh of SYF,  Bhai Karam Singh Bhoian (Distt. President of SADA), Bhai Rajbir Singh (General Secretary, SYFB (Amritsar)), Bhai Surjit Singh (Distt. President, SYFB (Amritsar)), Bhai Baljit Singh (Urban President, SYFB (Amritsar)), Bhai Tarandeep Singh (Distt, President, SYFB (Amritsar)), Bhai Balwinder Singh (SYFB) etc. were prominent among the leaders present there.
