SGPC Sets Up 7-member Panel to Decide over Movie ‘Nanak Shah Fakir’

Nanak Shah Fakir with SikkaAMRITSAR SAHIB, Punjab—Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (SGPC) has constituted a 7-member committee to decide over the film ‘Nanak Shah Fakir’. The committee has been assigned to examine the movie thoroughly.

The committee comprises SGPC executive member Rajinder Singh Mehta, Dr. Jasbir Singh Neki, Dr. Jaspal Singh V-C Punjabi University Patiala, Dr. Prithipal Singh Kapur, Dr. Gurmohan Singh Walia V-C Guru Granth Sahib World University, SGPC secretary Roop Singh and Balwinder Singh Jaurasingha.

SGPC president Avtar Makkar said that after going through every aspect of the film, the committee would submit its report to SGPC. He said SGPC would take further action as per report.

It is worth mentioning the film is facing harsh opposition from Sikhs across the world due to its alleged blasphemy content. Producer of the film Harinder Sikka had withdrawn the movie and stopped its screening publicly few days ago. Despite its withdrawal, the film was screened in Surrey (Canada) this pas week.
