Sikh Organization To Send 100,000 Food Packets to Earthquake hit-Nepal from the Golden Temple

Langer-AMRITSAR SAHIB, Punjab—On humanitarian ground, the apex Sikh body Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (SGPC) has decided to send 100,000 food packets made from Guru Ramdas Langar (community kitchen) in Sri Darbar Sahib (Golden Temple) to the earthquake affected people of Nepal.

On direction of the SGPC president Avtar Makkar, the food has started to be prepared at the langar hall by the Sikh Sangat. The food will be sent through an aeroplane of the Indian army. For now, as many as 20 thousands food packets have already been sent via the first flight.

The SGPC has also requested the Deputy Commissioner of Sri Amritsar to help with humanitarian aid.

  2. I respect sikh organization. We Nepalese solute. We really appreciate sikh organization help to Nepalese people in Nepal. Nepal needs to make sure this food goes to remote village of earth quack affected area.
