BATHINDA, Punjab—Renowned Sikh preacher and chief of Panthik Sewa lehar Baba Baljit Singh Daduwal, on Saturday, took control of historical Sikh shrine Gurdwara Jandalisar Sahib Kotshamir a week after its control was handed over to three persons who donated their land for the Gurdwara.

While taking over the Gurdwara, Baba Daduwal raised slogans of ‘Bole So Nihal’ in presence of his large number supporters and ordinary Sikh Sangat.

It is notable that local Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (SGPC) member Amrik Singh Kotshamir, who was managing the Gurdwara after the arrest of Baba Daduwal in August last year, had handed over the keys of the Gurdwara to the donors of the land Ughar Singh, Mahinder Singh and Jinder Singh last week. The three are supporters of Baba Daduwal.

Kotshamir actually managing the Gurdwara after Daduwal’s arrest, apparently on directions of the high command of Shiromani Akali Dal (Badal) who were unhappy with Baba Daduwal due to his anti-SAD stand in respect of separate Gurdwara panel for the Sikh shrines situated in Haryana. Baba Daduwal supported the formation of the Haryana Sikh Gurdwara Management Committee by the previous Congress government in Haryana that was vehemently opposed by SAD (B) and SGPC.

  1. I wonder why Sant/Baba’s with bodyguards carrying rifles, are needed to run a Gurudwara Sahib whereas a normal devoted and educated sewadar, can run the Gurudwara Sahib.
