NEW DELHI—Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal has written a letter to Deputy Governor to seek a ban on the movie ‘Nanak Shah Fakir’.
Various Sikh activists are said to have contacted Kejriwal via MLA Jarnail Singh and Jagdeep Singh. Jarnail Singh and Jagdeep Singh explained the whole matter to Kejriwal and asked him to put a ban on this movie in Delhi. Deputy Governor holds the right to control the publishing of movies in Delhi.
The Chief Minister requested Deputy Governor to ban this movie under Article 13 of Cinematography law. This law provides privilege to Deputy Governor to ban the movies that can trigger violence in society.
AAP MLA Jarnail Singh declared it a sensitive issue and recommended the review of film to remove controversial scenes of movie.
