Petition for Bapu Surat Singh Khalsa Launched in United States

NEW YORK—A petition has been launched in the United States collectively by Sikh organization seeking attention of the Government in the case of Bapu Surat Singh Khalsa.

Petition can be signed at this link: http://www.freesikhprisoners.com/p1

On February 26, 2015, Ravinder Jeet Singh, a US citizen, was arrested in Ludhiana, Punjab (India) along with his father, Surat Singh, an 82-year-old human rights activist on hunger strike for prisoners’ rights in India. Ravinder Jeet was merely accompanying his father at a hospital in Ludhiana (Punjab, India) when they were both arrested. Ravinder Jeet Singh has been in police detention since, while Surat Singh is in isolation in a hospital, being force fed by the police. The People’s Union for Civil Liberties, India’s largest civil liberties organization, akin to the American Civil Liberties Union, has issued a statement condemning the treatment of both men.

We request all Americans to request their family and friends to sign the petition to express solidarity with the cause.

  8. I would like USA to support human rights to be able to investigate and help the Sikhs who are never given justice and are still being wrongfully jailed, some Sikhs who have never done anything wrong are still in jails after serving their sentences though they should never have been jailed at all.
