:dateline:Shiromani Akali Dal (Badal) president and Punjab deputy chief minister Sukhbir Badal has declared to field Gobind Singh Longowal as candidate from SAD-BJP alliance for Dhuri by-poll which is slated for April 11.
Longowal had won assembly elections in 1985 from Dhanaula segment and also remained chairman of Markfed Punjab. In 1997, he was again elected as MLA from same constituency and appointed as minister of state in Badal government.
He was again elected as MLA in 2002.
