:dateline:Navjot Sidhu is the only Punjabi to find a place in the BJP National Executive team, which comprises of 111 total members. This is the team of top leaders of the BJP. Sidhu’s inclusion in the Executive Committee may not sit well with the Akali Dal, as it was because of them that he was deniedthe Lok Sabha ticket from Sri Amritsar last year.
The list was announced byBJP national chief Amit Shah earlier today. BJP has dropped women leaders including Nazma Heptulah, Samriti Irani and Hema Malini from the national executive team.
The new committee also includesveterans like LK Advani and Murli Manohar Joshi, Rajnath Singh, Sushma Swaraj, Arun Jaitley, M Venkaiah Naidu, Nitin Gadkari and Harsh Vardhan.
There have been rumors that inclusion of Sidhu maybe a hint that he could be the Chief Ministerial candidate of the BJP in the upcoming 2017 elections in Punjab, if they contest separate from the Akali Dal.
